Addiction Services York Region

Provide community treatment services, support and assistance to those struggling with substance use and problem gambling.

Blue Door

Support people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness to attain and retain affordable housing.

CAYR Community Connections

Offer specialized and combined programs for people living with HIV/AIDS; people affected by or at risk of HIV and Hep C; people who use drugs; people who identify as 2SLGBTQ+; and/or people supporting vulnerable and marginalized community members.

Provide therapy, education and advocacy for those who have experienced trauma.

Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Care Centre of York Region

Provides free care for victims/survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault including emergency care following abuse or an assault, examination, testing, follow-up care, counselling and many other services as needed.

Family Services York Region

Provides affordable professional counselling and family education services to; individuals, couples and families who are experiencing difficulties coping with stressful life situations and/or difficulties in their relationship.

John Howard Society of York Region

Partner Abuse Response Program: Group counselling and education to assist individuals in stopping their abusive behavior towards their partner.

Family Law Education for Women

Plain language legal information on women’s rights under Ontario family law is available in 11 languages and in multiple formats.

Housing Help Center

Maintains a housing registry to assist individuals in securing affordable accommodation in the private rental market

Kids Help Phone

Canada’s only 24/7, national support service, offering professional counselling, information and referrals and volunteer-led, text-based support to young people in both English and French

Krasman Centre

A Consumer/Survivor Initiative that offers peer support-based programs, physical hubs and resources for people with lived experience, substance use and housing challenges, their family and friends.

Loft Community Services

Promote recovery and independence for people with complex challenges, including serious mental health difficulties, dementia, substance use issues, physical health challenges and homelessness or the risk of becoming homeless

Mobile Van

Provides housing and support to adults with serious mental health needs. Programs include community support. The Street Outreach Van, in conjunction with York Region Health Services, provides a variety of harm-reduction services to individuals who are homeless and/or street involved.

Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers

Provides support to pregnant and parenting teens through counselling and education.

Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region

Dedicated to empowering all persons who identify as women and their children through safe shelter, resources, information and advocacy in order to eliminate violence in their lives

Safe Pet Ontario

SafePet Ontario coordinates foster care for the pets of survivors fleeing violent situations.

Victim Services of York Region

Works in partnership with York Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) to provide 24-hour emotional support and practical assistance to persons victimized by crime or circumstances.

Vitanova Foundation

Provides a holistic approach to supporting persons with substance abuse problems. Programs include assessment/referral, family support and individual/group counselling.

Women’s Center of York Region

Support and services to assist women (primarily sole support mothers)

Women’s Support Network of York Region

Provides counselling to female survivors of sexual violence in house and on-site support to York Region students (both male and female) affected by sexual violence.

York Region Children’s Aid Society

Designated children’s aid society to help protect children from abuse.

York Region Public Health

Offer evidence-based public health programs and services to prevent diseases, support child development, protect resident safety and promote healthy lifestyles.

York Region Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee

Responsible for educating the public on the issue of Woman Abuse in all its forms, with the goal of preventing and reducing Woman Abuse.
