Yellow Brick House

A Sneak Peek at What’s Happening at Our 2026 Break the Silence, Step in My Shoes Walk!

 In Yellow Brick House News

From live music and delicious food to exciting fundraising prizes, there’s so much to look forward to at this year’s Walk!

On Sunday, November 1, Yellow Brick House will bring our community together for the 10th annual Break the Silence, Step in My Shoes Walk, presented by our Title Sponsor, the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA).

This year, we’re walking with a special focus on education, awareness and prevention, supporting Yellow Brick House’s Public Education Program and its work to prevent domestic violence before it begins.

Here’s a sneak peek at what we have planned!

Back at St. Andrew’s College!

We’re excited to return to St. Andrew’s College in Aurora for another year!

As an all-boys’ school, St. Andrew’s College provides a particularly meaningful setting for this year’s focus on prevention. Educating young people, especially boys and young men, about healthy relationships, consent, respect and recognizing warning signs is an important part of building a future free from violence.

Through our Public Education Program, Yellow Brick House works with schools, youth and community members to encourage conversations that challenge harmful attitudes and promote healthy relationships.

Prevention starts with education, and we’re proud to bring that message to this year’s Walk.

We’re Taking Our Message to Yonge Street!

This year, our Walk will once again bring participants together along Yonge Street in Aurora!

By walking through one of the community’s busiest streets, we’re creating greater visibility for an issue that too often remains hidden behind closed doors.

Every step is an opportunity to raise awareness, break the silence and show our collective commitment to preventing domestic violence.

More visibility. More awareness. One community walking for prevention.

Live Music to Close the Walk!

What’s better than coming together for a meaningful cause? Celebrating our community with live music!

We’re excited to welcome Rose Cora Perry and her band, The Truth Untold, for a special live performance during our closing celebrations.

Thanks to their generous donation of time and talent, participants can look forward to a mini concert following the Walk, bringing music, energy and community spirit to the day.

A huge thank-you to Rose and the musicians for sharing their talents in support of Yellow Brick House!

Come Hungry — We’ve Got You Covered!

Walking works up an appetite, and thanks to our generous food and refreshment partners, there will be plenty to enjoy!

We’re grateful to Pickle Barrel Catering, Christina Cooks Catering, Longo’s and Starbucks for helping make this year’s Walk even more special.

Their generosity means participants can enjoy food and refreshments while connecting with fellow community members and celebrating the impact we’re making together.

Thank you to each of these businesses for supporting our community and helping bring this event to life!

Your Fundraising Could Take You Places!

This year, we’re taking our fundraising prizes to new heights — literally!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Air Canada Foundation, our top individual fundraiser will receive:

Two Economy Class return tickets for travel to any Air Canada scheduled destination in North America, including Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean!

With an approximate commercial value of $4,300, this is an exciting way to recognize an individual who goes above and beyond to support our mission.

Every dollar raised helps Yellow Brick House deliver public education programs that teach young people about healthy relationships, recognizing warning signs, consent and preventing violence.

Team Up. Fundraise. Enjoy the Movies!

Fundraising is even better when we do it together!

This year, our top fundraising team will receive a special Cineplex prize, recognizing their collective efforts to make a difference.

One Walk. One Community. One Purpose.

Behind every part of this year’s Walk are generous sponsors, partners, volunteers and community members who believe in the importance of prevention.

A special thank-you to our Title Sponsor, the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), for their leadership and commitment to making this year’s event possible.

While there are plenty of exciting things planned, the most important part of the day is why we’re coming together.

By supporting Yellow Brick House’s Public Education Program, we’re investing in education that helps young people build healthy relationships, recognize unhealthy behaviours and develop the knowledge and skills to prevent violence.

We hope you’ll join us on November 1st!
