Emergency Shelter
Yellow Brick House has two emergency shelters that provide a safe and stable environment for women and children fleeing violent situations. One of the shelters has seven bedrooms providing 25 beds and 7 cribs. This shelter has four bathrooms, a kitchen, kids play room and homework area, living room, sitting room, storage rooms and laundry room. The second shelter has 12 beds, 3 cribs, five bathrooms, a kitchen, meeting room, children’s resource area, mom’s room, living room, laundry room and storage areas.
Through the shelters, we provide assistance to help women and children make the transition from an abusive home to a safe home, support groups for the women to deal with the challenges they face while making this change, parenting groups to promote healthy families, and children’s programs to help them understand the changes in their lives and to learn positive aspects of communication. We can also provide free emergency transportation for the women and children who need to escape a dangerous situation but do not have access to a vehicle.
