Volunteer
Valued. That is what our volunteers are. As with most non-profits, we focus our limited resources on core programming. Volunteers therefore play a vital role in many areas of the organization. Whether on the Board of Directors or assisting in the maintenance of the shelter, our volunteers are an absolute necessity to the agency.
Volunteers provide support in a number of ways at Yellow Brick House: governance, public education/awareness, special events, the holiday program, grounds keeping, maintenance, administration, deliveries and shelter support. The volunteers’ efforts are particularly instrumental in ensuring the residents have a comfortable stay. For example, our volunteers prepare sheet bundles and hygiene kits which are given to new residents arriving in the shelter. For someone arriving with nothing, this is a tremendous gift and reassurance.
The benefits of our volunteers’ time are truly immeasurable. One act of kindness can make all the difference in someone’s life. The staff at Yellow Brick House also relies on the input of volunteers to run programs smoothly and successfully. It is hard to encapsulate the full value of all the volunteers do.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please submit the following via email to volunteering@yellowbrickhouse.org or by fax at 905-709-1308 attention to our volunteer coordinator.
