During these tough economic times businesses, families and individuals often take a financial beating. Loss is experienced, but eventually people rebound from these setbacks.
During these tough economic times Mary’s beating was physical. Financial loss was experienced but no where close to the devastation inflicted to her – and her children.
She did not rebound. The shelter capacity for abused women and their children in York Region did not have space for Mary and her children. If only there had been a second shelter…

The Programs and Services offered at Yellow Brick House go well beyond the provision of crisis shelter. The empowerment of women who have been abused enables them to break free of the cycle of violence. They in turn lend strength to their own children who have witnessed or experienced violence in their homes.
We, together with our clients, are rebuilding lives that will then build legacies of support for the issue of domestic violence. As we share our vision for a future that has the capacity to meet the needs of every woman and child who flees from violence, we ask “will you join us?”
