Public Education

The Public Education program is a central part to the mandate of Yellow Brick House. The goal of this program is to increase community awareness of the prevalence of domestic violence as well as to solidify a community presence so that those affected by domestic violence know where to turn.

The Public Education Coordinator attempts to achieve these goals in a variety of ways:

     • Facilitating Abuse Prevention Workshops for students between Grades 7 and 12
     • Providing information to college or university students or other professional groups regarding the issue        of woman abuse
     • Attending community events to promote the services offered at Yellow Brick House
     • Actively participating in the Public Education Sub-Committee of the York Region Violence Against        Women Coordinating Committee by planning community events and providing information to the        members of York Region
